Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park or often referred to as GWK, is a cultural
tourism park in the southern part of the island of Bali. This tourist park is
located in Ungasan Village, South Kuta District, Badung Regency, about 40
kilometers south of Denpasar, the capital city of Bali province. Here stands
a magnificent landmark or Balinese mascot, namely the Garuda Wisnu Kencana
statue depicting the figure of Lord Vishnu. riding his mount, Garuda, as
high as 121 meters.
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park area is located at an altitude of 146
meters above ground level or 263 meters above sea level. In that area there
is also a Garuda Statue which is right behind Plaza Wisnu is Plaza Garuda
where an 18 meter high statue of Garuda's head is placed. At this time,
Plaza Garuda is the focal point of a large corridor of carved limestone
pillars covering more than 4000 square meters of open space called the
Lotus Pond.
The colossal and monumental limestone pillars at Lotus Pond
create a truly exotic landscape of space. With a room capacity that can
accommodate up to 7000 people, Lotus Pond has earned a good reputation
as the perfect venue to host large events, both national and international.
The Garuda Wisnu Kencana statue was inaugurated on September 22, 2018 by President Joko Widodo.[
